General Electric Co., Endeavor Energy Resources LP and Sage Petroleum Ltd. have received approval from the Ghana government for the construction of the world’s largest liquefied petroleum, gas fired power plant.
The plant will be built in the port of Tema, approximately 26 kilometers east of the capital. The cost of the project is expected to be covered by equity invested and debt raised by the venture, according to Endeavor.
Ghana is looking to double its installed capacity of approximately 2,800 megawatts by 2020 as power shortages weigh on economic growth.
