GM to begin building new engine line in Tennessee

General Motors has announced that it will spend $789 million to prepare its Tennessee plant for production of a new engine program. The program plans to create nearly 800 jobs, according to GM.

At present, the facility makes four-cylinder engines for numerous GM vehicles and is scheduled to begin producing a V-8 engine later this year.


In a separate statement, GM said it will invest $118 million it its Bay City Powertrain plant in Michigan, where engine and transmission components will be manufactured.
