The Century Tokyo Leasing Corporation and Kyocera Corporation have entered into a joint venture to build the world’s largest floating solar power plant.
Located on the Yamakura Dam reservoir, the plant will include 51,000 Kyocera modules installed over a freshwater surface area of 180,000m2. It is expected that the solar energy collected from the site will generate 16,170 megawatt hours of electricity per year and provide power to approximately 5,000 households.
Managed by Public Enterprises Agency of Chiba Prefecture in Japan, the solar farm is expected to launch in 2018.
