KBR secures equipment installation contract for coal-fired units in US

KBR has won a contract from Southern Company to install flue gas desulfurization and selective catalytic reduction equipment, related ductwork, and auxiliaries at two 880MW coal-fired units at Georgia Power's Plant Scherer facility.

Plant Scherer is a 3,520MW coal-fired power generating facility located near Macon in the US state of Georgia.

Under the contract, KBR will be responsible for installation of all equipment and associated piping, steel, ductwork, electrical, instrumentation and related work.

The company will also be responsible for the procurement of piping and valves, and will provide storage, rigging, assembly of modules, lifting, placing, connecting and other services as necessary.
