Australian infrastructure firm Lyon Group has announced its plans to build the world’s largest solar storage project in South Australia in the next two years.
The solar project will be a 100MW solar plant with a combined battery storage array of up to 40MW.
“The genie is out of the bottle. There will be a burst of activity now in large scale solar and battery projects,” says Lyon Group’s founding partner, David Green. “This is the real battery storage story coming out of Australia – batteries used to convert large scale solar to effectively baseload, or peaking plant.”
The company which has previously invested in coal, gas and wind projects, is now focusing its efforts on solar and storage, and aims to become a global industry leader in solar plus storage.
