Mid-Kansas Electric Company will build 110MW natural gas power plant called Rubart Station, in Grant County, Kansas, at a cost of about $130m.

The Rubart Station will include Caterpillar Power Generation Systems' 12 natural gas reciprocating engines and G20CM34 generator sets.

Mid-Kansas Electric Company president and CEO Stuart Lowry said, "Along with being incorporated into our existing generation fleet to meet our growing load, this type of generation resource has a fast start capability, allowing for quick response to market conditions and our system's growing integration of wind energy."

The company has awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction contract to Burns & McDonnell for the Rubart Station project.

The construction work is expected to start in early 2013 and be completed in April 2014.

The company's efforts for planning and permission for the project are underway
