MidAmerican Energy receives sign-off on giant Iowa wind farm

30 Aug 2016
MidAmerican Energy has received official regulatory sign-off on its 2GW wind farm project in Iowa.

The $3.6 billion project will see 1,000 wind turbines constructed by the end of 2019 at multiple sites across the state.

This will be the largest wind project ever undertaken by MidAmerican Energy, which is currently investing more in wind farms and reducing the proportion of coal used in its energy mix.

During construction, thousands of jobs will be created while the project is built and hundreds of new permanent jobs will become available once the farm becomes fully operational.
