Donald Trump’s election victory has placed more pressure on Canada to boost its defence spending, according to numerous military analysts.
Many analysts agree that Trump’s win will have a significant impact on Canada’s defence policy.
“Canada is going to come under some pressure to bump up its defence spending,” said analyst Martin Shadwick, Teacher at the York University in Toronto.
“There will be intense pressure to boost spending on the military, to buy new equipment, preferably from the Americans,” adds Steve Steve Staples, vice president of the Rideau Institute in Ottawa.
“Canadian defence policy makers are going to have little room to maneuver with this president.”
