27 May 2015

Swedish energy firm, Minesto has announced it will set up its UK headquarters in Anglesey, driving the creation of hundreds of new jobs in the area.

Back in 2013 it was revealed that Minesto wanted to place “underwater kites” in waters near Holyhead to generate marine power, and now the firm has received £9.5 million of EU funds to develop the £25 million tidal energy initiative and build its British HQ in Anglesey.

30 jobs will be created initially with hundreds more in the long term in areas such as manufacturing, offshore operations and new project development.

Anders Jansson, CEO of Minesto said, “Establishing our UK Headquarters in North Wales is a strategic decision that can make Wales a global leader within marine energy.
