Napier Port has been awarded a deal with Port of Auckland to increase business and lower costs to customers.
According to Napier Port chief executive Garth Cowie, the deal “was a natural discussion that evolved from both parties.”
Napier Port hopes to become central New Zealand’s leading provider of port and logistics solutions. The company will also plan to grow its workforce and develop a joint talent pool, further enhancing skills development and introducing more opportunities, such as staff exchanges.
“We share a similar way of working, common customers and supply chain opportunities and have similar ownership structures so that’s a great base to work from,” added Ports of Auckland chief executive Tony Gibson.
