A memorandum of understanding signed by the European Marine
Energy Centre (EMEC) and several Chinese entities will support the development
of a marine energy test site near Qingdao.
EMEC has now overseen more than 1,000 marine energy
activities at its test site in Orkney, Scotland, giving it a unique ability to
provide expertise in device deployment, grid connectivity, cable laying, data
collection and monitoring.
The partnership will help China jumpstart its ocean power
sector, officials say.
