New trains for the North and Scotland

TransPennine Express (TPE), the intercity rail operator for the North and Scotland has announced the purchase of an additional 126 new carriages. 

More than £230 million will be invested and the purchased trains will be in service across the network by 2019. 

The new train fleets will have an extra 13m seats a year and will be bought from northern based manufacturer, Hitachi Rail Europe.
