Nuclear plants in India pass safety inspections

09 Jul 2014
New safety tests have established the safety of all nuclear power plants in India.

Following the 2011 Fukushima nuclear accident in Japan, the safety reviews were made compulsory and all Indian NPPs were inspected.

The nuclear power plants have proven that they have the adequate margins and features in design to withstand natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis.

In the Tarapur, Kalpakkam and Kudankulam sites, appropriate bunds have been provided to ensure shore protection measures are designed and constructed to withstand the potential impact.
