Nuclear power plant secures greenlight in Wales

20 Dec 2017
A major nuclear power plant has been approved in Wales, according to UK regulators.

The Office for Nuclear Regulation and two government bodies approved the Horizon Nuclear Power’s plant at Wylfa.

“This is a huge milestone for Horizon and a major leap forward for us in bringing much-needed new nuclear power to the UK,” said Duncan Hawthorne, Horizon’s chief executive.

According to officials, Hitachi has already invested £2bn on development of the power station.

Once completed, the Welsh plant will have a total capacity of 2.7GW.
