Hornsea Project One
contracted by Siemens to carry out onshore turbine pre-assembly work for the Hornea Project One offshore wind farm.
When operational in 2020, Hornsea Project One will overtake Walney Extension to become the biggest offshore wind farm in the world.
contract covers onshore pre-construction support for 174 turbines; standing 190m tall. Windhoist
stated it will commence works this month and the project is anticipated to run for almost one year, sustaining over 100 employees on site for the duration of the project.
Additionally, GeoSea has reached the halfway mark on installing the turbine foundations at the Hornsea Project One offshore wind farm. ALE and Conbit have also completed the transportation, sea-fastening and
load-out of 100 transition piece for the project.
Deutsche Bucht Offshore Wind Project
The first of 33 foundations have been installed at the Deutsche Bucht wind project.
Owned by Northland Power, the installation of the remaining steel foundations is expected to be to be completed by end of 2018.
Once operational by late 2019, the wind farm will generate over 1.1 million kWh of power annually, which is enough electricity to provide power to 328,000 households consume.
Borkum Riffgrund 2 Offshore Wind Farm
The last remaining MHI Vesta turbine has been installed ahead of schedule at the Borkum Riffgrund 2 Offshore Wind Farm, located in Germany.
A total of 56 v164-8.0MW turbines were installed at the wind farm, with a combined capacity to generate over 450MV of electricity.
“With the last V164-8.0 MW turbine now installed at Borkum Riffgrund 2, we look forward to the commissioning phase and to the future of offshore wind energy in Germany,” commented Installation contractor MHI Vestas chief operations officer, Flemming Ougaard.
Mekur Offshore Wind Farm
GE Renewable Energy has confirmed it has installed its last 150-6MW turbine at the Merkur offshore wind farm, located in the German North Sea.
A total of 66 Haliade machines have now been erected with commission due to continue until late 2018.
