Kongsberg Maritime has signed a contract to deliver substantial technology packages for ten new pipe laying vessels for Petrobras.
The Brazil-based company requires Kongsberg to supply its offshore vessel technology including dynamic positioning, position reference systems, propulsion control and automation.
The company will also build six 550 metric ton laying tension capacity pipelayers at IHC Merwede in the Netherlands and will deliver them in 2015 and 2016.
Seabras Sapura, the partnership between SapuraKencana and Seadrill, will operate the other three vessels to be built at IHC Merwede.
The contract has been valued at $20 million and will allow Kongsberg to deliver one their largest solutions to date, covering complete EIT equipment and engineering services.
