Rockwell Collins buys B/E Aerospace for $6.4bn

Rockwell Collins Inc has agreed to acquire B/E Aerospace Inc in a deal worth $6.4 billion. The deal is set to unite two of the largest suppliers to airlines and plane manufacturers.

B/E Aerospace, based in Florida and is the world’s leading manufacturer of aircraft seats and other interior fittings, including galleys. 

Rockwell Collins Chief Executive Kelly Ortberg has explained that the partnership will offer significant cost synergies and the ability to cross-sell electronics and plane fittings, and positions the enlarged company remain competitive in its development of the “smart” aircraft.
