Rolls-Royce and CGN make nuclear deal worth billions

30 Jun 2014
Rolls- Royce and Chinese nuclear reactor vendor, CGN, have partnered up to work together in the field of civil nuclear power in China, the UK and other markets overseas.

The £14 billion deal, as reported by Spencer Ogden earlier this month, will cover all aspects of the project, from engineering support to supply chain management and control technology.

China believes that they will benefit greatly from this collaboration as they will rely on the expertise of the UK in entering this new nuclear project which will include 31 reactors (34GW) under construction and 59 planned (63GW) to be in progress by 2030.

China was also drawn by the extremely strict safety standards that are imposed by the UK which they feel they can learn from in order to tighten their own regulations.
