Rosatom wins $10bn contract to build Jordan's 1st nuclear plant

Russia’s State Nuclear Corporation Rosatom has won a contract to build Jordan’s first nuclear power plant.

The project to build and operate the nuclear power plant is expected to cost $10 billion and supply 12% of Jordan’s energy needs by 2020. The plant will be in the Amra region, 60 kilometers east of the eastern Zarga city.

Atomstroyexport (ASE), Rosatom’s international arm, will finance 49% of the project and the Jordinian government will pay 51%, and will take a controlling share.
