Scotland's offshore wind farm gets the green light

19 Mar 2014
The Scottish government has given the green light for the development of a major offshore wind farm in the Outer Moray Firth, off Scotland’s Caithness coast. The project will be the world’s third biggest offshore wind farm.

The two projects; Moray Offshore Renewables Limited and Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Limited, involve a total of 326 turbines and could generate electricity for more than a million homes.

As well as being a key move in Scotland’s renewable energy services, the projects will provide work for up to 4,600 people at the peak of construction and the combined scheme would be worth up to £2.5bn to the Scottish economy.
