Sensus Introduces New Smart Metering Endpoint

27 Jan 2012

Sensus has unveiled an updated smart metering endpoint for markets outside of North America so that utilities around the world can leverage the latest in intelligent water system management technology. According to Sensus, its new iPERL smart metering endpoint “sets a new standard in efficient water measurement and low flow accuracy and unlocks the full potential of smart water networks for utilities and their customers. Using a specially designed flow tube and remanent magnetic technology, the iPERL captures very low flows for improved leak detection and conservation of resources. Ithas no moving parts, which coupled with a unique solid state design, ensures perpetual accuracy over the full life of the product.”

Sensus Chief Executive Officer and President, Peter Mainz, says, “The iPERL is the cornerstone of our solution for enabling global smart water networks. The technology has been proven in deployments across North America.” Sensus began shipping its iPERL residential water endpoint to the North American market in 2010.
The iPERL endpoint, made with recyclable materials and available in various diameters and lengths for use in residential and commercial applications, enables water utilities to collect and share data to improve supply-demand management; monitor the system to reduce leaks and non-accounted water; and create operational efficiencies and reduce costs.

Mainz adds: “Sensus continues to deliver solutions that enable water utilities to improve productivity, simplify operations and better manage water resources.”

Sensus offers smart meters, communication systems, software, and services for the electric, gas, and water industries. Its technology helps utilities drive operational efficiency and customer engagement with applications that include advanced meter reading, data acquisition, demand response, distribution automation, home area networking and outdoor lighting control.
