Siemens has officially opened a new wind turbine factory that will see manufacturing, assembly and servicing for the offshore wind industry.
Dr Doug Parr, Greenpeace Chief Scientist comments: “The UK has the potential to become a world leader in manufacturing, design and services of offshore wind projects. But for this to take off, companies needs a strong signal from the government that Britain is open for business and is still an attractive investment environment for cutting edge renewable technologies and infrastructure, such as offshore wind or solar and battery storage."
The Guardian reports that for the next two to three years, the blades built at the site will be shipped to offshore wind farms around planned or under way in the UK.
