The Moroccan government and Siemens have reached an agreement where Siemens will build a factory in Morocco to manufacture rotor blades for offshore wind turbines.
The factory is expected to create up to 700 jobs, with construction of the project scheduled to start as early as spring of 2016.
"Morocco is the perfect location from which to serve the growing onshore wind power markets in Africa, the Middle East and Europe,” said Markus Tacke, CEO of the Siemens Wind Power and Renewables Division. “The economy is strong, the political climate is stable, and Morocco has a young, skilled and motivated workforce.”
The facility will cover 37,500 square metres and will be located in Tanger Automotive City, approximately 35 kilometres from Tanger Med port.
