Siemens to build €200m offshore wind facility in Germany

05 Aug 2015

Siemens has announced plans to invest €200m in the construction of its first offshore wind production facility in Germany.

The German engineering giant has cited the vast growth opportunities in the country’s offshore wind market as the reason behind investing in the region and the German and Northern European markets are huge growth areas for the company.

The offshore wind facility will be based at the port of Cuxhaven in the north, with construction kicking off at the end of 2015.

The facility will manufacture nacelles for 7MW wind turbines from 2017 and is expected to create up to 10,000 jobs.
