Siemens Energy has secured an order from Norway-based Jacobsen Elektro to supply three industrial gas turbines for the Ubungo power plant located in the city of Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania.
The power plant will be built by Jacobsen Elektro for the state-owned energy provider Tanzania Electric Supply Company.
Siemens will supply three SGT-800 gas turbines with a combined capacity of 100MW at site condition.
The natural gas for the facility is supplied through a pipeline from the Songo Songo gas field off the coast of Tanzania.
Connection of the gas turbines to the electricity grid is planned for late 2011.
