SolarReserve has received development approval to construct a 150MW solar thermal power plant in Port Augusta, Australia.
The project will have 1.1GWh of energy storage per year, according to officials.
“The remarkable story of the transition of Port Augusta from coal to renewable energy – which won a competitive tender against fossil fuel – is also a preview of the future of power generation around the world,” said SolarReserve CEO Kevin Smith.
Once completed, the project will create close to 4000 direct, indirect jobs in South Australia. Approximately 650 full time construction workers will be needed for a period of 30 months. Once completed, the project will require 50 full time and permanent jobs to operate and maintain the plant.
