Sopogy signs MoU for development of 6MW solar plant in Thailand

Sopogy, a developer of micro concentrated solar power (MicroCSP) technologies, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with MAI Development for the development of a 6MW solar plant in Bau Yai in the Nakorn Ratchasima province of Thailand.

The solar power project is being developed to provide electricity to the Provincial Electricity Authority of Thailand in 2012.

MAI Development holds 45 power purchase licenses to supply 360MW of electricity generated from solar plants to the PEA for an estimated value of over $500m.

The company has also been granted exclusive distribution rights by Sopogy for MicroCSP systems in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.

MAI Development is a Thai conglomerate focusing on manufacturing, construction, real estate, energy and government services.
