South Africa plans to raise renewable energy

South Africa plans to triple electricity production from renewable-energy sources to help alleviate power shortages that have caused blackouts throughout the country recently.

Energy from biomass, wind, solar and hydropower sources will contribute 11.4 gigawatts to the grid in the future. A timeline has not been set for the timeline as of yet.

Currently, 3,725MW of clean sources in a five-round program estimated at $12 billion and plans another 3,200MW when the process is completed.
