Statoil has started a new venture capital fund to invest in growth companies within the renewable energy sector.
The Norwegian energy giant has named the fund ‘Statoil Energy Ventures’ and plans to invest up to $200m over a period of four to seven years. According to Statoil, the fund will reflect the company’s goals of complimenting its oil and gas portfolio with lucrative renewable energy projects.
Statoil has an impressive track record of successful technology implementations with profitable returns.
