30 Jan 2015
The United States and India have achieved a ‘breakthrough understanding’ on clean energy, nuclear power, and climate change, President Barack Obama announced in Delhi during the weekend summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Under the agreement, Obama has agreed to help finance Modi’s planned $100 billion expansion of solar power in the next seven years, providing between 20,000 to 100,000MW.

Also making headway was discussions of U.S. civil nuclear investment in India. On Sunday, Modi administration announced it would use executive authority to create a $122 million insurance pool for nuclear operators.
