North Lincolnshire’s largest solar power park is now officially in operation. The 194 acre Raventhorpe Park generates 39.2 megawatts of electricity. Much of which will be supplied to the local Scunthorpe steelworks.
The energy park cost £48 million to build, with more than 400 contractors over 3 months to install the 153,000 solar panels.
The site’s developers have promised the park will provide ongoing employment for people in the region through the maintenance of the installed equipment and infrastructure.
The Raventhorpe Park is expected to generate green power until 2045.
