21 Mar 2016

Vietnam plans to open its first power plant by 2028. The nuclear power plants will be developed in Vietnam in an effort to secure a stable future power supply when domestic primary energy sources are depleted, according to a plan approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

The Xinhua news agency has reported that the overall capacity of nuclear power in Vietnam will reach 4,600 MW by 2030 while 32.5 billion kWh of nuclear power will be produced.

While the country develops its nuclear power platform, it will continue strengthening other energy sources such as wind power, solar power and biomass power.
