Crossrail has commenced work on London’s 140-year-old Whitechapel station. The £110m transformation works will ensure the creation of step-free access, an extended ticket hall and integrate the existing tube and London Overground platforms with Crossrail platforms.
“It will help service London’s growing population and support thousands of new jobs and homes,” said Transport for London’s Crossrail operations director, Howard Smith.
Work is expected to be completed towards the end of 2018.
