Spencer Ogden, the world's fastest growing energy recruitment agency, announced today the official opening of its Asia Pacific Headquarters in Singapore. Spencer Ogden, which started in 2010, now has 8 offices. Other planned offices set to open in 2013 include New York, Brazil, Germany and South Africa. The new office will immediately recruit for the Oil and Gas, Mining, Trading, Power and Renewables industries across South East Asia.
The growth story of Spencer Ogden has been outstanding. The new Singapore staff will join a global team of 210 employees, which is set to increase to 500 by 2014. This growth in headcount is mirrored in Spencer Ogden’s explosion in revenue. In 2012 the turnover was S$61m; this year the predicted turnover is S$102m.
To celebrate the opening of the new office, co-founders Sir Peter Ogden (Chairman) and David Spencer-Percival (CEO) will hold an energy industry VIP launch party this evening in their signature office space.
Commenting on the unique office space, Eduard Moix, Project Designer at Space Matrix, the design consultancy who worked on the project, says: “It is definitely the project that questions the design of most corporate workplaces. Bonita Spencer-Percival, Spencer Ogden’s Design Director, believes that the whole design encourages productivity, collaboration and interaction at all levels. The design imports home and garden into the office space, with a 1950s style American diner kitchen and giant knights’ tables alongside basketball hoops and an astroturfed floor.”
“The overall design of the project fuses the company's British origins with the local flavour of Singapore. The ‘Not Bored Room’ features a giant opium bed; the club room has a statue of a Mongolian warrior and ceiling wooden fans, which were directly inspired by Raffles Hotel. These all pay homage to the office’s surrounding region. Spencer Ogden is a once in a lifetime client. Their passion and forward thinking has made this project a success.”
Space Matrix has also designed the Singapore offices of Facebook, Rolls Royce, Clifford Chance, CISCO and McKinsey.
Energising the Asian Energy Market
The launch party also serves as an event to mark the rapidly growing energy market in South East Asia, with the Spencer Ogden founders giving their forecasts for this. Business titan, Sir Peter Ogden remarks: “Singapore is the super hub of the booming South East Asian energy market. We are seeing oil and gas, renewable energy and commodities trading firms flooding into the region, and this is set to continue. This is a crucial place for Spencer Ogden to be.”
He continues: “I'm confident that our vast knowledge and experience within each sector of the energy market leaves us well positioned to make a positive contribution to the region.”
Spending on Singapore Talent
A first in the energy recruitment sector, Spencer Ogden created its own Graduate Academy. This is a 3 month intensive training course with a series of modules teaching them all that they need to know in order to excel in recruitment. “This is our secret weapon,” says David Spencer- Percival. “We are hiring the world’s top graduates and turning them into the best recruitment professionals in the industry. This is reflected in our outstanding growth.”
Spencer Ogden plans to spend S$50,000 per graduate. It will initially take on 20 graduates, with a view to expanding the Singapore team to 60 by 2014.
