ACCOUNT MANAGER

1.0 INTRODUCTION:

1.1 This job description profile describes the basic function, reporting relationships, authority and responsibilities of the FUEL ACCOUNT MANAGER for Midstream Company. It also describes the measures of performance for this position.

2.0 BASIC FUNCTIONS:

2.1 Must have ability to effectively and efficiently sell profitable wholesale petroleum and related products and services. Work requires substantial knowledge of products and engineering service offerings.

3.0 REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: The Account Manager reports directly to the Wholesale Sales Manager.

4.0 AUTHORITY:

4.1 The Account Manager has full authority to fulfill the responsibilities of the position as outlined in Section 5.0 (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES) of this job description.

  • The Fuel Account Manager has the authority to quote the Midstream Company "class level" prices for petroleum and related products to ensure proper pre-established minimum margins are being achieved while still remaining competitive within the marketplace.



  • For pricing required to secure business below Midstream Company class level, the Account


  • Manager must have the approval of the Wholesale Sales Manager.

    5.0 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The principle responsibilities of the Account Manager of Midstream Company. include, but are
    not limited to the following areas:

    5.1 Maintain the professional growth, positive moral, and motivation of self.

    5.2 Contact regular buying and prospective customers to solicit business.

    5.3 Prepare and maintain lists of prospective customers and be able to explain where the prospect is in the sales process.

    5.4 Promote, recommend and sell products and services to prospective and buying customers. Visit customer's business to evaluate customer's specific needs and requirements.

    5.5 Explain benefits and features of our products and services. Answer questions about product portfolio, prices and credit terms in order to solve customer problems.

    5.6 Is responsible for meeting all sales and growth objectives as established by the Wholesale Sales Manager.

    5.7 Responsible for developing a business plan in conjunction with the Wholesale Sales Manager for the assigned sales territory of the Account Manager. This includes, but is not limited to, the marketing, advertising and retailing plan for the assigned territory. The plan must be developed in conjunction with the assigned goals and with approval from the Wholesale Sales Manager.

    5.8 Self-motivate to constantly improve personal sales skills and ensure business is conducted in a professional manner at all times. Attend educational seminars and classes, attend tradeshows, talk to people with other companies. As directed, attend sales and trade meetings and read related publications to obtain current market condition information, business trends, and industry developments.

    5.9 Understand basic financial statements.

    5.10 Provides customer service that meets or exceeds the standards of Midstream Company.

    5.11 Investigate and resolve customer complaints.

    5.12 Suggest new methods, procedures, and sales incentive plans which will improve sales.

    5.13 Provide all credit information on prospective customers to the Credit Manager for approval prior to any sales being made on credit.

    5.14 Ensure that all wholesale customers pay within the terms agreed upon and collects all past due accounts when necessary and in cooperation with the Credit Manager.

    5.15 Maintain open communications and foster a harmonious working relationship with all of the employees of Midstream Company.

    5.16 Perform other such duties as necessary or required to ensure the combined success of the company as directed by the President or Vice President of Midstream Company.

    5.17 Adhere to policy B-034 "Wholesale Standards of Professionalism".

    6.0 MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE:

    6.1 Ensures sales and profit goals for the Wholesale Department as approved by the Wholesale Sales Manager. The Account Manager Expense & Margin Report will be used for the evaluation process.

    6.2 Ensures that expenses are within preapproved budgetary guidelines and all significant variances have been properly noted and corrected.

    6.3 Properly manages sales, buying and prospective accounts, territories and other responsibilities to achieve maximum results.

    6.4 Maintain proper customer relations with all buying and prospective customers and new markets are being identified in which to sell our products and services.

    6.5 Maintain proper communications with the warehouse(s) to ensure all invoicing is accurate and done on a timely basis.

    6.6 Maintain proper oral, written and electronic communications and that coordination has been achieved with the Wholesale Sales Manager to avoid scheduling conflicts or an out of stock situation with key items in our warehouse system.

    6.7 The degree of overall job performance is satisfactory to the Wholesale Sales Manager Midstream Company and/or the Director of Wholesale.

    6.8 Customer service meets or exceeds the standards of Midstream Company.

    6.9 Follows policy B-034, "Wholesale Standards of Professionalism" .
