The Advanced Process Control Engineer's primary role is to build and maintain Advanced Process Controllers (APCs), also known as Multivariable Controllers (MVCs). This role requires strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Maintain performance of installed APC applications. Improve stability robustness, economic performance, and Health, Environmental, and Safety performance of APC applications.
- Enhance refinery economics by maintaining knowledge of Product Control Targets, economic drivers, and constraints limiting profitability. Maintain knowledge of future plans for changing operating conditions and equipment modifications.
- Work collaboratively with refinery resources to identify and develop new APC applications to maximize profitability. Execute project to develop or modify APC application. Produce and/or update documentation.
- Monitor and communicate APC KPIs for assigned areas.
- Identify the need for and provide training to Operations and other refinery personnel on APC applications.
- Act as a lead or a participant in incident investigations and participate in the Management of Change (MOC) process.
- Support the development of APC knowledge and skills within MPC.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or an M.S. or Ph.D. in multivariable control required
