Responsible for managing the Asset Optimization Program, bridging the capabilities and expertise that reside in the commercial areas with the capabilities and expertise that reside in the operational areas, and engaging cross-functional teams. Identifies, analyses, executes and monitors issues that affect profitability, risks, growth and productivity. Optimization of portfolio through accomplishment of optimization projects to meet/exceed budget and deliver enhanced value from assets and positions.

  • Lead and/or support selected Asset Optimization Projects, particularly those involving a high degree of cross-functional interaction
  • Ensure success from the Asset Optimization Program, with cross-functional team development and recognition/reinforcement of successes, including ensuring that all profitable expansions of existing plants are carried forward
  • Manage the overall Asset Optimization Program for generation, including the AOP database, coordination with various key functions implementing AOP projects, and provide summary reporting
  • Complete the establishment and update of Incremental Value of Plant Performance (IVPP) tables
  • Ensure that the appropriate functions understand and make use of this information, in pursuit of value optimization
  • Develop leadership skills and experiences in the commercial and operational functions

Requirements

  • 10+ years of extensive industry experience required
  • Experience with successful P/L responsibility
  • Prior lead responsibility for major commercial transactions
  • Power plant experience (preferably both renewables and gas-fired)
  • Extensive commercial experience and broad and in-depth knowledge in structured and standard energy transactions, including extensive involvement in standard and non-standard contract terms, counterparty credit requirements, default terms, delivery provisions, etc
  • Experience with identification and economic assessment of optimal commercial structuring alternatives
  • Specific past successes with restructuring complex contracts
  • Experience with portfolio optimization and resource management
  • Expert in developing complex financial analysis from scratch
  • Experience with markets, protocols and dynamics, including zonal/nodal regimes, congestion mitigation mechanisms, generator interconnection rules, etc
  • Experience with impacts on markets resulting from regulatory change
