Seeking a Civil Transportation Engineer for our downtown Chicago office. This role requires conventional aspects of civil engineering and roadway design and will work under the supervision of a senior civil engineer. Design tasks will include a variety of topics: roadway geometrics and pavements, cross sections, MOT, grading, storm sewer, ADA ramps, and traffic signals. A qualified candidate will demonstrate responsible care and judgement while performing most tasks, assignments and designs independently. Guidance and mentoring will be provided as required for unusual or complex assignments

Responsibilities:

  • Execute civil engineering design from initial stages to final design
  • Produce plans, specifications, reports, and quantity calculations
  • Ensure design adherence to state and local codes, regulations, and agency mandates
  • Collaborate with reviewers to ensure precision and quality of work
  • Coordinate with other departments for multi-disciplinary projects
  • Manage project documentation
  • Plan and schedule assigned work and training in coordination with the supervising engineer
  • Possess independent critical thinking skills to make timely and informed decisions - Perform other duties as necessary

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation design
  • Demonstrate experience in Illinois transportation projects, working with local agencies such as IDOT, Tollway & CDOT
  • Hold EIT/FE certification (PE License preferred)
  • Exhibit proficiency in MicroStation, Geopak, PowerGeopak, and/or OpenRoads software
  • Display excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Show exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail
  • Capable of working independently in a hybrid work environment while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
