Seeking a Civil Transportation Engineer for our downtown Chicago office. This role requires conventional aspects of civil engineering and roadway design and will work under the supervision of a senior civil engineer. Design tasks will include a variety of topics: roadway geometrics and pavements, cross sections, MOT, grading, storm sewer, ADA ramps, and traffic signals. A qualified candidate will demonstrate responsible care and judgement while performing most tasks, assignments and designs independently. Guidance and mentoring will be provided as required for unusual or complex assignments

Responsibilities:

  • Execute civil engineering design from initial stages to final design
  • Produce plans, specifications, reports, and quantity calculations
  • Ensure design adherence to state and local codes, regulations, and agency mandates
  • Collaborate with reviewers to ensure precision and quality of work
  • Coordinate with other departments for multi-disciplinary projects
  • Manage project documentation
  • Plan and schedule assigned work and training in coordination with the supervising engineer
  • Possess independent critical thinking skills to make timely and informed decisions - Perform other duties as necessary

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation design
  • Demonstrate experience in Illinois transportation projects, working with local agencies such as IDOT, Tollway & CDOT
  • Hold EIT/FE certification (PE License preferred)
  • Exhibit proficiency in MicroStation, Geopak, PowerGeopak, and/or OpenRoads software
  • Display excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Show exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail
  • Capable of working independently in a hybrid work environment while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines

Multi-discipline projects in hydro, gas and fossil power generating facility experience is required. Duke, TVA, Exelon, Dominion or other power industry experience is desired. Desired experience includes low voltage and medium voltage power distribution, motor controls for both low voltage and medium voltage, interfacing industrial processes to DCS and/or PLC systems and the use of power distribution system modeling software (ETAP or similar). Need to be familiar with panel design, and 3D environment.Candidate needs to be a leader, capable of coordinating engineering and design efforts, working within a team, and comfortable being in front of peers and clients leading/conducting meetings.  At times job duties will require coordinating with project managers, and client to develop proposal documents and estimates to facilitate bidding on work.
