The Contract Specialist - Rigs position is based in Houston, Texas and will be part of the Drilling & Completions Category Management Team, reporting to the Rigs Category Manager, with the primary focus area of Offshore Rigs. The Specialist will be responsible for managing and administrating contracts for offshore rig & intervention vessel suppliers and providing support to the Rigs Category Manager in the category strategy development and sourcing.
The successful candidate will work closely and develop strong business relationships in order to:
*Drive integrated value creation through heavy involvement in cross-functional category management teams.
*Develop comprehensive, cross asset solutions which underpin a sustainable competitive advantage for Hess.
*Minimize value leakage through robust contract development and management
*Implement commercial solutions which increase Hess' ability to be nimble and responsive in the marketplace.
*Partner and collaborate with key service suppliers to identify opportunities and extract maximum value out of Hess' relationships.
*Be flexible and capable of quickly shifting from tactical responsibilities to highly strategic initiatives.
The successful candidate will have strong sourcing and contracting skills and will be expected to work in a team atmosphere supporting a variety of category needs. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively with limited supervision and will need to plan for and manage his/her daily activities and complex projects/issues. The successful candidate will be expected to apply analytical, technical, and industry knowledge, standards and practices to routine assignments and complex projects. The Specialist will work closely and develop strong business relationships with internal and external stakeholders to define the best solutions, which address priority business needs or issues. The ability to conduct necessary analysis, devise and present appropriate approaches and solutions, and ensure the timely delivery of high quality services is a must. A strong contracting background, negotiation skills, interpersonal skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this role. The Specialist will support specific projects/initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency of GSC and actively cultivate strong relationships with contractors and suppliers via coordination of Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) engagements.
Provide contract management and administration, including contract amendments, change orders, supplier onboarding, etc of Offshore Rig & Intervention Vessel agreements.
Manage ecommerce pricebook creation and maintenance, purchase order issuance, and invoicing issues, discrepancies, and/or disputes.
Support category strategy development by providing analysis of supply market, demand, and competitors as required.
Provide analytical support for market intelligence requests and other internal reporting requirements.
Coordinate Supplier Relationship Management data gathering, action item closure, and preparations for quarterly performance reviews.
Support the end-to-end tendering process for Offshore Rigs and Intervention Vessel as required.
Support evaluation of proposals with business partners to identify the best solution instead of the ideal technical solution or lowest price.
Develop RFI, RFP/ITT, negotiation, and contracting templates to ensure consistency across all projects.
Support contract model development for Offshore Rigs and Intervention Vessels and coordinate with various internal stakeholder groups to ensure alignment.
Identify key contract risks and the associated mitigation strategies.
Work with Supply Chain leadership to implement category specific plans and strategies and assist them in implementation.
Apply industry knowledge and use available tools to offer alternative approaches/solutions where other 'fit for purpose' options do not exist.
Ensure compliance with legislative regulations and corporate policies and procedures (Sarbanes-Oxley, FCPA, etc.)
Plan and schedule work activities, within prescribed parameters
5+ years of professional level work experience in Supply Chain with Exploration and Production related experience in Offshore Drilling & Completions
Working knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma principles is preferred
Education, Training & Certifications
Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Distribution or closely related degree is strongly desired (or equivalent work experience); advanced degree a plus
Strong computer skills including SAP, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project.
