Job description

My client has won £43m of work over 19 sites / 3 years with National Grid, the majority of which are in The Midlands and North of England. Work is delivering the infrastructure for the security upgrades at Gas & Electric substations and we are working in a JV with another company. My client is delivering the Civil Engineering works and the other company is delivering the electrical works.

The Contracts Manager will be based out of either the Coventry office or Altrincham office but will work on various sites throughout the UK (the majority of which are in the Midlands and North West).

Reporting into the Framework Manager, duties include but are not limited to;

-Responsible for overseeing up to 4 live projects at any one time

-Managing and supporting the Site Managers on each of your projects

-Working closely with the commercial team, designers, planners and site teams

-Subcontract management

-Liaising with the SHEQ team to ensure the safe delivery of works, updating on environmental issues and ensuring quality

-Client interface; attending regular meetings with the client and reporting on design and project completion timelines

-Taking an active part in the tender evaluation team

-Effective monthly reporting to the Frameworks Manager

-Taking responsibility for the programmes

Due to the complexity of projects that we work on, it is essential that applicants have a background in managing the successful delivery of civil engineering projects; having some knowledge of M&E would also be beneficial. A background of working on National Grid projects would be a strong advantage and is preferred. It may be that you are currently working as a Contracts Manager or perhaps you are a Project Manager who is seeking to take the next step in your career. Either way, you will have an excellent technical ability in civil engineering and be a strong manager of people, possessing the ability to get the most out of your team

Desired Skills / Background

-HNC/HND/BSc in Civil Engineering or equivalent or by experience

-A background of delivering civil engineering projects to budget and program

-National Grid/Cadent project experience preferred but not essential

-Excellent communication skills with people of all levels

-Organised and structures in your approach

-IT literate

-Experience: Contracts Manager: 4 years

-Education: Bachelor's (Preferred)

-Driving Licence: (Preferred)
