Job Summary
Responsible for ensuring piping and pressure equipment integrity and safety by understanding corrosion threats, developing and monitoring mitigation plans; providing technical support for all corrosion issues; and involvement in all internal corrosion related aspects of the company's assets.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

    • Provides technical guidance to Operations and Engineering for the chemical treatment, monitoring and analysis of the Company's plant and pipeline assets.
    • Provides support in the commissioning of facilities which involve multiple groups including vendors, engineering, design and construction.
    • Assists in the development of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) and capital budgets for corrosion control.
    • Maintains risk management programs in relation to fixed above and below ground assets; such as pressure vessels, piping, and underground storage.
    • Supports the Mechanical Integrity Engineers, Plant Engineers, Process Engineers and Operations personnel on corrosion and material selection issues.
    • Monitors specialty chemical applications for corrosion mitigation in the plants, facilities and pipelines.
    • Drives and ensures maintenance is complete on company vehicles.

Education and Experience

Engineer with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Metallurgy/Materials Science, Mechanical, Chemical or equivalent discipline ( i.e. NACE Certified Internal Corrosion Specialist) with 3 or more years of experience in corrosion prevention and control programs for gas transmission, gas gathering and/or hazardous liquid and plant assets.
  • Experience in developing internal corrosion management plans preferred.
  • Preferred experience in pipeline and/or plant operations, Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and State Code requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience in external, internal, atmospheric corrosion monitoring and mitigation; technical support and training; corrosion and pipeline data management and integration.
  • Ability to interface with a variety of individuals inclusive of clients, vendors and Midstream Company management.
  • Strong computer skills/software & hardware applications (not limited to Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook) and other applicable applications.
  • Strong mathematical skills. Ability to apply math and algebraic formulas.
  • Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility, perform duties and handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, self-motivated, and as part of a team, with a strong sense of urgency and ability to meet situations with timeliness.
  • Demonstrated ability around safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and produce technical reports.
  • Ability to communicate and/or exchange written and verbal information and instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents including safety procedures, O&M manuals, testing specifications and reports, and procedure manuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.
Certification and Licensing
  • Applicable driver's license required for travel to other company locations.
  • National Association of Corrosion Engineer (NACE) Internal Corrosion Specialist Certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Mobility to travel in and around plant, office facilities and job sites out‑of‑doors in all types of weather.
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop and climb.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
Visual Requirements
  • Sufficient to perform job duties.
  • Ability to distinguish between colors.
  • Ability to read reports and use a computer.
