Qualifications:

Spencer Ogden is seeking an experienced Data Science Manager, on behalf of one of our top utility clients, to help form and lead a team of Data Scientists, Analyst and Technologist focused on advanced analytics. This new section is charged with enabling the Company to become an information-driven organization. This requires expert knowledge in applying data mining techniques, performing data and statistical analysis, building high quality analytics and prediction platforms to support our business processes.

-The Data Science Manager is responsible for applying innovative analytical and research approaches to tackle complex and strategically important problems.
-S/he will become a hub for deep insight to support and enable the entire organization to continuously develop new capabilities and solutions along the data analytics maturity curve.
-Must have a minimum eight years of relevant work experience in applied quantitative and qualitative analysis.
-Utility industry experience preferred.
-Must have a proven track record leading the development and delivery of creative, advanced, actionable analytic products and services.
-Must have experience managing consulting engagements to understand business problems/opportunities, translating needs into analytic projects and applying results.
-Must have a command of analytic methods, tools and data wrangling techniques.
-Must possess excellent leadership, organizational, prioritization and interpersonal skills along with excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation skills.
-The candidate must demonstrate the ability to quickly acquire in-depth knowledge of new IT technologies and have broad managerial and business skills including managing projects and budgets.
-S/he must have the ability to present technical topics to non-technical audience and have demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments and changing priorities.
-Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Economics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.


Responsibilities:

-The Data Science Manager's responsibility is enterprise wide and includes supporting the information governance framework, defining and guiding our advanced analytics capabilities and setting policy and compliance surrounding data access and security.
-Leads and manages the advanced analytics staff; provides guidance, training and motivation as necessary to develop staff; hires, evaluates and counsels staff; sets performance standards, reviews performance, provides feedback and recommends wage increases in accordance with all applicable
Human Resources policies and procedures. Follow corporate disciplinary procedures when required.
-Responsible to foster a work environment that generates team building, creative thinking and crew development; mentors and grows new analytic talent; develops and implements operational plans to achieve ACE's departmental objectives; works with senior management in planning, developing, and executing short and long-range goals; participates in development of the department budget; engages with leaders, project sponsors and stakeholders to understand their needs; identifies and educates on where and how analytics can provide the best insights and add the most value.
-Leads the analytics team in conducting projects to provide insight into business needs and behavior, engages in analytic design to ensure relevant findings; ensures application of quality controls throughout projects; drives creative and innovative analytic applications and results; keeps abreast of industry, market and company trends, and partners with business leaders to champion the adoption of new data, analytic approaches, techniques and capabilities; guides business partners on the interpretation, implications and use of analytic results; prepares and delivers presentations that translate analytic insights into tangible, actionable solutions for business to implement.
-Identify data and analytic tool gaps by working with IT teams and business partners, and recommends corrective action; identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and to increase team effectiveness and leads initiatives to achieve the improvements; define, guide and implement our advanced analytics capabilities (e.g., machine learning, predictive and prescriptive).
-The Data Science Manager coordinates with data and analytic business support teams across the company and technical architecture groups to plan, manage and assess business and technical needs; plans and evaluates new technologies to provide technical solutions for business requirements; provide guidance and consulting to business organizations on business and technology solutions.
