Responsible for the designing of Polymer based seals for the Aerospace industry. The position provides technical assistance in responding to customer enquiries and product development needs. The Design Engineer is also required to provide support to sales, manufacturing, procurement and quality. This role will work within a matrix structure; the functional reporting will be to the Design Engineering Manager, with the Project Manager setting day to day priorities and tasks. The candidate will need to use engineering initiative to solve problems, develop and execute objectives set by the manager with the aim to affect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Responsible for:

  • Accuracy and successful delivery of the Engineering content for Development projects & ECN process.
  • Interfaces with Business Development Manager, Design Engineering, Stress Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, customers, contractors, suppliers and internal project teams.
  • Following the engineering design process

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Completes own design projects and peer review of other team members; as allocated and prioritized by engineering management.

  • Constructs 3D CAD models for component designs; collates and presents technical data to support design proposals; fully details component drawings for approval submission and performs drawing review activity for other team members.
  • A working knowledge of product design is essential, with additional benefit if this is directly with Polymer aircraft seals. In house training will be provided associated with the product portfolio.
  • Provide technical assistance to both external and internal customers, joining company representatives at customer sites as and when required.
  • Support the cross functional team in problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • The interactive skills required to understand and communicate effectively with internal and external customers are also needed in the position.
  • Undertakes other duties and tasks, appropriate to the function, at the discretion on the job holder's line manage
