As America's oldest and most experienced community solar company, they develop, own, operate, and subscribe to their projects, delivering an exceptional experience to customers and stakeholders. Headquartered in Denver, they have successfully developed over 120 MWs of operational solar projects for utilities of all sizes. By focusing on community-based solar projects, they aim to make clean energy accessible and affordable to businesses, institutions, homeowners, and renters. Join their dynamic, fast-paced, and highly driven team that values talent and offers equity ownership to all full-time employees.

ROLE MISSION: As a Development Associate, you will play a pivotal role in expanding and executing a pipeline of new solar projects. Reporting to the Market Director, you will be involved in the entire development process, including identifying project opportunities, securing land positions, engaging with community stakeholders, presenting at public meetings, and obtaining key utility capacity and interconnection agreements. This position empowers you to take ownership of specific projects and market areas, contributing to market strategy and driving the growth of renewable energy. Join our client in their mission to make a positive impact on the world, your community, and your own career.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of policy and regulatory documents to identify viable project sites for development.
  • Collaborate with the in-house GIS Team and utilize internal mapping tools to identify potential project locations.
  • Lead land campaigns through mail, phone, and in-person outreach, while effectively managing land agents.
  • Negotiate lease and purchase agreements with landowners and establish agreements with project partners.
  • Build relationships with local communities, planners, and elected officials to secure necessary land use permits.
  • Strategically submit projects to utility-issued capacity solicitations to win development opportunities.
  • Overcome challenges inherent in project development by employing problem-solving skills and ensuring successful outcomes.

ABOUT YOU: You are an individual driven by learning and thrive in challenging roles, even without direct solar experience. Your entrepreneurial spirit, persistence, and passion for the renewable energy sector propel you forward. With exceptional interpersonal skills, you effortlessly connect with diverse individuals and build relationships. You are energized by fast-paced environments where your contributions create tangible impacts on the world, your community, and yourself.

While you possess analytical capabilities in contracts, regulatory filings, and data analysis, your preference lies in the field, engaging with landowners, regulators, channel partners, and other key stakeholders to maximize solar energy adoption.

Your deep commitment to your community and the planet fuels your motivation to create a better future. You understand the complexities and challenges involved in this work, yet you embrace the journey, knowing it leads to meaningful change.

Join our client and be part of a company that highly values your contributions, offering a stimulating work environment and opportunities for professional growth.
