The Civil Engineer will work in a team environment, on a variety of engineering projects related to solar and/or solar plus storage plants and EV projects. The Civil Engineer position will touch on all aspects of the project’s site selection, site design & permitting, construction, and operation maintenance of those facilities. The ideal candidate will be skilled in permitting, site acquisition, land lease negotiations, etc. as well as have the following qualifications:Project Development Lead cross-functional project teams to bring wind, solar and storage developments from prospecting stages through land acquisition, design, permitting, and offtake contracting, up to the start of constructionRetain day-to-day project development across southern United States (SPP South, ERCOT, MISO South, TVA, SERCEvaluate project sites for utility-scale renewable projects & bring them through the due diligence processSecure zoning permits, tax abatements, crossing agreements and road use agreementsLead the negotiation of permitting documents and interconnection agreements in close coordination with EPC DepartmentConduct or Coordinate site visits to support site evaluation, suitability, and due diligence effortDevelop scopes for technical services and manage relationships with contractors and third-party engineering firmManage distribution interconnection process and interface with Utilities/regional transmission operators for development portfolioEngaging consultants to prepare critical issues analysis, natural resource surveys, cultural resource analysis, geotechnical surveys, wetland delineations, and phase one environmental site assessmentsPrepared and submitted solar energy interconnection requests · Support the negotiation of Power Purchase Agreement Qualifications Expertise in utility sized solar and wind projects throughout project lifecycleBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Environmental, or related field)5+ years of experience developing projects / project engineering from discovery to start-up
Manage external engineering firms, subcontractors and as well as internal engineering disciplines (civil, electrical, network, permitting) to meet on time, on budget, and high-quality completion of project deliverables.The candidate will be responsible for ensuring deliverables meet contractual requirements, are constructable, and that country / regional impacts to design / cost are considered by engineering functions.Support in the management of internal and external design review meetings and verify compliance with the internal quality program certified to ISO 9001. Drive a culture of value engineering and encourage innovation and innovative approaches for best-in-class system design / constructability.Support Project Procurement and Estimating Teams by developing construction and electrical equipment specifications and performing technical reviews of vendor and subcontractor technical proposals.Review all designs to ensure compliance with project requirements and contractual obligations.Support in the resolution of technical issues surrounding throughout the project lifecycle.Manage the development, coordination, review and technical oversight of engineering and design of contracted energy storage projects at various stages.Maintain a knowledge of applicable codes, standard, and certifications in the Energy Storage Industry and support project leadership in acquiring jurisdictional approvals.Knowledge and experience in Renewable Energy and the execution of Engineering Procurement Construction Processes.Support the development and management of internal process and tolls utilized by the engineering team.
