Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced Energy Market Compliance Manager/Director with a minimum of 3-5 years of FERC and CAISO experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring relevant energy markets, market transactions, and communications to ensure compliance with FERC and market rules and regulations.

This includes delivering compliance training, providing guidance to the business, monitoring regulatory agencies, and producing regulatory reports. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for enhancing processes and tools to continuously improve the tracking and monitoring of market activities and adapting the program to changes in the business and external laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree
  • Strong understanding of Western power markets and energy management operations
  • Detailed knowledge of energy industry laws, regulations, and standards
  • Experience in FERC and CAISO compliance
  • Proficient in MS Office applications and industry tools and technologies

The ideal candidate should be highly organized, collaborative, and detail-oriented, capable of managing consultant teams and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee environmental permitting and manage tasks delegated to internal teams and external consultants for projects in the Development phase.Make important environmental-related project decisions.Conduct environmental due diligence for development and acquisition opportunities.Manage consultants providing environmental survey support, including reviewing proposals, scheduling survey timelines, and ensuring compliance with permit conditions.Review technical reports prepared by consultants, such as environmental screenings, habitat evaluations, biological surveys, and post-construction monitoring studies.Collaborate with development and engineering teams to ensure project design aligns with commitments and requirements.Identify project needs, schedules, and risks, and communicate them across project support teams.Manage relationships with federal, state, and local agencies.Represent the company as a subject matter expert in external engagements related to environmental impact assessment and permitting.Stay updated on environmental policies, regulations, and compliance requirements affecting project siting and development.Support the preparation of long-term plans and annual budgets.Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with company policies and ethical standards. Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in renewable energy permitting or 8-10+ years in a similar industry with comparable responsibilities.Strong understanding of federal and state environmental laws and regulations (e.g., ESA, NEPA/CEQA, FEMA, CWA, Porter Cologne, ORES 94-c).Established relationships with regulatory agencies and positive reputation with key resource agency regulators.Extensive knowledge of environmental impact assessment and management within the California energy sector, with additional familiarity in New York and Texas being a plus.Self-directed and detail-oriented with excellent leadership and teamwork skills.Strong attention to detail in written and verbal communication.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced business environment with competing deadlines and adapt quickly to internal processes.Proficiency in web-based mapping platforms and interpreting environmental spatial data.Preferably a resident of California, particularly Southern California, with substantial experience in the energy sector. Experience in Texas and New York is also desirable.Working knowledge of USFWS Wind Energy Guidelines, Eagle Conservation Plan Guidance, Section 10 HCPs, and USACE Individual Permits is preferred. Education: Bachelor's degree in biology, environmental science, engineering, or a related field.Advanced degree in biological science, natural resources, environmental policy, or environmental law is preferred.
