AES Distributed Energy is currently seeking a Procurement Director to manage the acquisition of goods and services required for Solar PV project development, construction and operations, the administrative purchasing process and the process of reconciliation of the billing of suppliers and subcontractors, contract negotiations, supply chain and logistics. The Procurement Director will ensure compliance with corporate processes, cost-effective and efficient Solar PV procurement, and the execution of strategies to achieve the objectives for rapid growth and deployment.

This position will be based in Boulder, CO, working closely with the DE Engineering and Construction team while reporting to Director of EPC for AES and will focus on commercial and utility scale solar projects. The candidate will have 4 direct reports as well.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop relationship and strategy with different business units within AES to aggregate volume and purchasing power
  • Prioritize and formalize relationships with solar PV equipment vendors and service contractors. Establish preferred pricing and terms for AES.
  • Manage RFPs and scope of work packages for 3rd party EPC and O&M contractors. Participate in contractor selection and contract negotiation.
  • Manage the internal procurement process, utilizing SAP, in coordination with the DE operations team.
  • To check bills, including the assignment of positions of the purchase orders to bills.
  • Maintain reports and metrics, coordinating with the DE Operations and Treasury teams to manage the status of orders, invoices and payments.
  • Identify and implement constant improvement initiatives in all the processes of the administration of purchases.
  • Manage compliance of supply agreements, deliverables and milestone achievements.
  • Coordinate with firms, suppliers and equipment vendors to ensure adherence to contract terms and delivery of contractual deliverables.
  • Coordinate with the US SBU Purchasing group to leverage existing relationships with manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Accountable for pricing and supplier management during proposals, preconstruction and construction execution.
  • Responsible to draft and negotiate master services agreements, and execute project purchase orders inclusive of: conditions, scopes, pricing, schedule provisions in line with project deal structure.
  • Monitor and report global Solar industry and economic influences on the business.



Skills and Qualifications:

  • Candidates should have at least a master's Degree in business administration, Purchasing, Procurement/Acquisitions, Contract Management, economics, accounting, or business
  • +10 years professional experience in purchasing department.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, CPM scheduling, and Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
  • Familiarity with photovoltaic solar and energy storage components and technical standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint as well as Adobe Acrobat.
  • Proficient in SAP and its purchasing module - experience with SAPgui 7.30 and later a plus
  • Superior communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including an ability to maintain calm and effective exchanges by all parties during stressful situations.
  • Excellent organizational skills demonstrated by clear and effective project plans and executive level reporting that ensure timely action and decision making in time-pressured scenarios.
  • Familiarity with wind technology is a plus.
  • Spanish language skills a plus.
