Solar Energy - Director, Project Finance & Development Overview seeking a Director, Project Finance & Development to manage all debt, project finance and project-level M&A transactions for the company, market the company's projects to investors in sell-side transactions, prepare and maintain project finance models, and lead analysis of new solar energy markets and programs. The Director, Project Finance & Development, will be a key member of the company's development team, working closely with management to optimize the value of the company's projects and identify strategic growth markets for the company. Key Responsibilities * Manage all debt, project finance, and project-level M&A transactions for the company. * Oversee development and maintenance of financial model in coordination with internal and external resources, enabling a streamlined and consistent approach across all business development activities and investment decisions. * Serve as company's point person for project M&A transactions including management of all investor marketing, negotiations, and financing diligence (data room) for the company. * Value projects and project portfolios under development for marketing to 3rd Party Investors. Appropriate project valuation that balances market competitiveness with risk mitigation is critical in facilitating strategic investment decision-making and successfully completing transactions. * Package project portfolios, prepare marketing materials, evaluate buy-side proposals, and lead financial partner selection. * Assist with development activities related to optimizing the value of the company's solar assets, including critical market research to refine the development model for a campaign, promotion of projects with officials in relevant AHJs, and pursuit of financial incentives for projects. * This position will manage a Project Finance Associate and have support from the full team as needed to maintain financial models for target campaigns. This position will also be responsible for review and QA, as needed, of financial models produced by the Project Finance Associate. * Oversee the company's EPC cost estimation process for use in project evaluation with support from the Project Finance Associate and in close coordination with the EPC team. Work with senior leadership across all departments to ensure alignment on EPC cost inputs and implications. * Work closely with Business Development and Origination teams to conduct market research and make go-to-market recommendations for the company. * Cover the company's target markets as an analyst would, understanding market conditions, rules and regulations, most important actors within each market, and other key factors influencing the company's efforts in the market. * Support origination and business development efforts by leveraging industry contacts. Maintain relationships and originate projects as opportunities arise. * Work closely with Business Development to present valuation analysis to potential C&I clients in an effort to sell projects (PPAs and owner-financed projects), including evaluation of utility retail rates that C&I customers will avoid through the adoption of customer-side solar, i.e., offsettable rates. * Analyze project ownership and work with sources of construction debt, permanent debt, and tax equity investors to fund projects owned. Qualifications * Proven skills and experience in project-level M&A transactions in the energy industry. Solar M&A experience preferred. * Strong understanding of the development and diligence process required to successfully finance energy projects.
