Can you help bring Ireland to the forefront of Irish wind?

Based in Cork, this role requires an experienced wind analyst (3 - 5 years), with a strong understanding and capability in wind resource assessment and energy assessment, which requires knowledge and experience of industry standard yield assessment methodologies. The role will be primarily focused on the Irish and UK market, with occasional work for other regions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Production of high pre-construction quality energy analysis estimates, involving the following: data processing and quality checking of data, wind farm layout optimisation, wind flow and wake modelling, estimatation of energy losses, uncertainty analysis and reporting results.
  • Design of site-specific measurement campaigns for wind, including overseeing data collection and reporting of site measurements data from meteorological masts and LIDAR units.
  • Co-ordinate and manage the procurement process for specialist consultants and contractors, including overviewing installation, maintenance and decommissioning of meteorological masts and LIDAR units.
  • Ensure that consultants and contractors comply with HSSE Policies and Procedures and demonstrate commitment to the safety culture.
  • Develop tools and systems to analyse wind data and operational performance data, automating these methods, where possible, to improve asset performance and reporting.
  • Communication of site-specific energy production and site condition risks to project teams.
  • Management and review of third-party energy production and site conditions reports.
  • Performing technical due diligence of potential acquisition projects.
  • Liaising with turbine suppliers regarding turbine suitability and technology options, also providing input into technical aspects of turbine supply agreements.
  • Conduct detailed reviews of the performance of the preconstruction energy production modelling against operational data and develop recommendations to improve processes and reduce uncertainties.
  • The above tasks will be carried out following the Energy Analysis Team standards. The successful candidate will also play a key role in the development of procedures and assessment of new measurement technologies and analysis tools within the Energy Analysis team.
  • Any other duties, as required. Knowledge, Skills & Experience The successful candidate for this role is a flexible and dynamic individual, a self-starter who displays the following skills and competencies:
  • Skilled in pre-construction wind analysis assessment, with 3 - 5 years of practical experience; solar experience an advantage
  • Experienced in the following: o Windographer, WAsP, WindPro and WindFarmer, Meteodyn or other CFD wind flow models is an advantage
    • PVsyst or other solar resource assessment software is an advantage
    • GIS software applications
  • A minimum of a 2.1 honours degree in physics, atmospheric science or mathematics field or equivalent.
  • Highly analytical with attention to detail and ability to exercise engineering judgment, with aptitude for statistical analysis of data.
  • Experienced in data mining and programing languages such as VBA, Python or R is highly desirable.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Must work well within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate technical issues to non-specialist colleagues are essential.
  • Ability to manage and work to tight timeframes.
  • Excellent technical skills, with ability to identify issues and implement solutions.
  • Ability to identify strategic opportunities and present to management.
  • Fluency in English required.
