*Be the Subject Matter Expert on Digital Innovation, and for creation and implementation of associated technologies within for the company, To that end, you will be responsible for ensuring our technical standards, policies and principles are continuously updated as the pace of technical change accelerates.
*Be responsible for the implementation of an Internet of Things Strategy.
*Create start-up projects that identify, test, and exploit emerging technologies, adopting a 'fail fast' approach.
*Incorporate a 'Security by Design' approach, working alongside our Security Teams.
*Identify and work with small-to-medium sized vendors that specialise in relevant products and services.
*Exploit existing investments to maximise return on investment and deliver rationalised and consistent end-to-end solutions, whilst understanding lifetime of systems, applications and apps against ongoing cost and performance.
*Inform investment decisions, based upon outcomes from innovation.
*Help deliver the vision using trial-and-error, working with the business incrementally
*Look for opportunities to automate, so as to minimise re-work and manual effort.
*Demonstrate a high level of understanding of the business objectives and translate these into clear technical solutions.
*Have a high level of awareness of technical trends, and how these can be used to leverage best value in our business and help deliver competitive advantage.
*Identify areas of opportunity where we can work better, smarter, and more productively.
*Be a champion of Technical Innovation, and be able to socialise and provide convincing reasons to adopt specific technical solutions.
*To provide a positive contribution to decisions pertaining to our Digital Strategy, Innovation Strategy, and Digital Workplace, but also the wider technology landscape.
*To be a major contributor in technical thought leadership both internal and external to the team.
*To collaborate with members of the wider architecture, Innovation, and IT teams, ensuring that technical solutions are delivered according to cost, quality and time constraints.
*To work with, mentor, and inspire our technical community on innovation and the adoption of emerging technologies.
*To aid and facilitate solution and device testing.
*To work alongside our contract strategists to manage relationships with vendors, both existing and candidate.
*To build and develop the skills of themselves and their team.
*To understand the different technologies in use in Yorkshire Water, and to understand how newer and incumbent technologies can co-exist.
*To have the ability to challenge others, but also be able to recognise a compelling alternate point of view, and agree a consensus.

*Detailed knowledge of a broad range of concepts and technologies across IoT, Cloud, Mobility, Social Networking, Resilience, Security, Data Strategy, and multi-channel.
*Knowledge of all aspects of IT security, at physical, network, and information levels
*Ability to troubleshoot existing or proposed solutions and designs and recognise issues, obstacles and concerns early in the lifecycle.
*The ability to recognise early when a prototype will be successful or not, and to be able to take learnings into subsequent initiatives.
*Understanding of architectural roles, domains, methodologies and design strategies.
*Experience of managing multiple hardware and software vendors.
*Ability to demonstrate relentless drive, energy and determination to deliver sustainable outperformance for the company that rigorously achieves against demanding competitive industry benchmarks and metrics from other organisations.
